Research backgroundImagine you could feel the images on your phone or touch your partners hand on a videocall. This the dream we want to realize. You will be part of a multidisciplinary research group, where we develop responsive materials to address the advancing needs in man-machine communication, specialized medicine and miniaturized mechanics. More information about our research can be found at
www.danqingliu.nl.
Our group is known for developing smart materials driven by light, electricity and/or heat. Based on this, we have developed several smart materials that can be applied in haptics. The next step is to take these materials from the lab, and integrate them into real devices. For this we need a person with good practical skills and knowledge from both fields of chemistry and electronics.
ResponsibilitiesA key aspect of your project is to relate molecular effects to macroscopic phenomena and translate these into
haptic devices or other robotic functions. You will join the 'haptics'-team where you will be responsible for developing and synthesizing these smart materials. You will optimize the chemical composition as well as building and testing haptic devices based on these materials.
