We are looking for a project manager, who supports two projects in their execution across a very wide diversity of stakeholders in the complex and exciting national digital infrastructure landscape.

Job description

As a project manager, you will be working on two projects: Pandemic and Disaster Preparedness Centre (PDPC) Rotterdam and Platform Digital Infrastructure Social Science and Humanities (PDI-SSH).

PDPC is a brand-new initiative bringing scientists together with an ambitious interdisciplinary research agenda to better prepare for future pandemics and disasters like floods or extreme heat. Such complex issues can only be tackled with a wide range of expertise, data collection methods and modeling techniques. Important stakeholders you will be dealing with include Erasmus Medical Centre (EMC), TU Delft, the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), and the national data infrastructure for the social sciences ODISSEI. PDI-SSH is part of the SSH Sector Plan of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) and is responsible for implementing a domain-wide digital SSH plan. The Platform allocates resources to digital infrastructures, coordinates digital infrastructures and is responsible for digital strategies within the SSH domain. Important stakeholders include ODISSEI, the humanities infrastructure CLARIAH, and Committee Sector Plan SSH. For more information, see www.pdi-ssh.nl.

As project manager your responsibilities will include:  

  1. Aligning the relationships between a large variety of stakeholders;
  2. Organising and participating in frequent bilateral and multilateral consultations;
  3. Monitoring and helping develop SSH (infrastructure) programmes;
  4. Supporting committees in evaluating programmes;
  5. Co-writing of project proposals, budgets and/or grant applications;
  6. Ensuring the cooperation and coordination of digital infrastructure facilities;
  7. Financial administration of provided grants.

Your employer is the Data Infrastructure department of Erasmus School of Social and Behavioral sciences (ESSB), which is the (co-)host of PDPC, PDI-SSH, and ODISSEI.

As project manager, you will enjoy a high degree of independence in your work. You will report to the chair of the Data Infrastructure department (Prof. dr. Dykstra) and to the chair of the PDI-SSH foundation (Prof. dr. De Vreese).

The position offers a unique opportunity to support two exciting projects to navigate across a very wide diversity of stakeholders in the complex national data infrastructure landscape. You can develop of significant understanding of that landscape, incrementally increase your responsibilities, and grow into a senior project management function. Requirements

You are independent, responsible, and self-motivated. You can communicate well with stakeholders at various levels of seniority and work constructively towards shared goals. You are analytically strong, client-focused, diplomatic, and trustworthy. You are well-organised and pay attention to details. Preferably, you have project management experience.

You have completed a two-year (research) master programme and have knowledge of and experience in the academic field, preferably in the social sciences.

You have professional verbal and written command of Dutch and English (both C2 level CEFR or comparable).

Conditions of employment

An internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with good working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).

You will be based at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences in Rotterdam - Woudestein. The position is for 0,8 -1 FTE. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 3.821,- to a maximum of € 5.230,- gross per month on a fulltime basis, in accordance with scale 11 of the CAO-NU. We will offer you a contract for a period of 2 years, extension is possible. In addition, we offer an 8% holiday allowance, an end-of-year payment of 8.3%, and a very generous paid leave scheme. Furthermore, EUR is affiliated with ABP for the pension provision, and we offer partially paid parental leave, fully paid extended birth leave for partners, a personal career budget, work-life balance coaches, discounted collective health insurance, and more. The Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB) has a wide range of scientific disciplines: public administration, pedagogical sciences, psychology, and sociology.
