Job description

You will get the chance to guide international tourists from diverse multi-cultural backgrounds through our beautiful capital city and educate them about historical, cultural and socio-economic facts. The profession is thus particularly suited to social sciences and humanities, however, students of any field are welcome to apply.

Job content:
  • Guide international tourists through Amsterdam
  • Deepen your knowledge of Dutch history and culture
  • Develop your public speaking abilities and gain confidence with future pitches/presentations
  • Develop your fact research abilities, as you fact check and research further information that you will need on various tours
  • Get the chance to work autonomously and understand the value of accuracy, being on time and managing your own group

Requirements

  • A fluency in English is crucial, ideally you also speak German on native level
  • Min. 8 hours/week
  • Ideally, we are looking for guides that want to join us for the entire season (February – December), shorter periods are also possible

Conditions of employment

  • An allowance of 28€/hour
  • A position for at least 8 hours per week and maximum 25 per week

Our tours cover important historical events regarding Amsterdam and the Netherlands at large, including their origin stories, the Golden Age, colonialism, WWII andb contemporary topics such as sustainability, housing and issues related to mass tourism.
