Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic student assistant to support various elements of a small research project, described below. Your core tasks will include transcription, coding, and administrative tasks. Ideally you will also be able to actively contribute to the data analysis and any needed literature research.

Project Description
The focus of the research is an exploratory, qualitative study examining the experiences and motivation of junior lecturers who are involved with educational innovations. Recently, junior lecturers within the Faculty of Science have been invited to apply for the Futureproofing science education grant. This grant offers them the opportunity to fund an educational innovation aimed at improving student well-being and study success. All junior lecturers in the Faculty of Sciences will be approached, either for an interview or to complete a survey. Based on the initial results, follow-up interviews may also be conducted.

Your duties
  • Transcribe interviews with assistance of transcription software
  • Collect and organize survey results
  • Assist in qualitative analysis of collected data, including deductive and inductive coding
  • Assist in literature research as needed
  • General administrative tasks related to the research

Requirements

  • Experience in qualitative research, in particular in the interpretation and coding of data or other relevant experience
  • Strong analytical capacity; able to identify core concepts and connections in complex systems
  • Affinity for the subject matter
  • Accurate typist and can confidently navigate unfamiliar software
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly
  • Strong English language skills, Dutch is also a benefit but not required
  • Registered as a student at a Dutch university, preferably in the third year of a bachelor degree or in a masters degree

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 6 months.

  • a salary € 2.618,00 (SA) gross per month, on a full-time basis. This is based on UFO profile Student assistant step 3. The exact salary depends on your education and experience.
  • a position for at least 0.1 FTE. Your employment contract will initially last 6 months.

  • A full-time 38-hour working week comes with a holiday leave entitlement of 232 hours per year. If you choose to work 40 hours, you have 96 extra holiday leave hours on an annual basis. For part-timers, this is calculated pro rata.
