Your job
The Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.) invites applications for a Lecturer in Economics. You will join the Economics Section of the Department. In this position you mainly teach courses in various areas in applied economics at undergraduate and/or graduate level, including elective courses in labour economics and inequality. Besides that, you will also supervise theses. All teaching is in English. A part-time appointment is possible if you wish to combine this teaching position at U.S.E. with a position at a different institution. The preferred starting date is August/September 2024 (negotiable) and under the condition of a valid EU working permit.

Requirements

We are looking forward to your application if you have the following qualifications:
  • You hold or are close to completing a PhD in Economics.
  • You demonstrate a clear potential for excellence in teaching different economics courses at both undergraduate and graduate level.
  • You have an excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • You are in possession of a University Teaching Qualification or willing to obtain this qualification.

Conditions of employment

We offer:
  • a position for up to four years;
  • 10% of the contract time is reserved for research and/or improvement of your teaching;
  • a gross monthly salary between €4,332 and €5,929 in the case of full-time employment (salary scale 11 under the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU));
  • 8% holiday bonus and 8.3% end-of-year bonus;
  • a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave and flexible terms of employment based on the CAO NU.
