The job
At the Teaching and Learning Centre we are looking for an instructional designer with expertise and broad experience in developing courses and programmes for both professional and academic education.

In this position you will develop courses and curricula together with teachers and other content experts at Wageningen University and Research (WUR). You will work in teams together with other instructional designers and educational advisors, project managers, functional administrators, marketing advisors, multimedia specialists and student assistants.

Your responsibilities
You bring experience to contribute to the designing of online, blended and face-to-face courses and learning activities for both university campus programmes as well as professional education. Besides teaching staff, our partners include providers of Continuing Education at WUR, like Wageningen Academy and Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation. In addition, some course design and development processes may include co-creation with professionals working within the domain.

In addition to facilitating instructional design processes, you will advise teachers and programme managers in the development and implementation of innovative pedagogical practices.

Your most important tasks concern:

• advising, inspiring and supporting educational project teams on content and pedagogic quality of course design and development;
• supporting content experts to formulate learning goals and ensure constructive alignment;
• facilitating the design and redesign process of high impact courses and programmes from idea to evaluation;
• giving feedback to content experts on learning activities such as texts, quizzes, video scripts and slides for knowledge clips.

About us
Life Long Learning Creation (3LC) is one of seven teams within the Teaching and Learning Centre of WUR. This multidisciplinary (agile) team works in close cooperation with Wageningen Academy on professional courses as well as campus education in the interdisciplinary ”healthy food and living environment” domain of Wageningen University & Research. The team is currently in transition from Life Long Learning Creation (3LC) to Learning Creation (LC).

You are a professional with a passion for education and with:

• a relevant MSc-degree in the field of Educational or Instructional Design, Pedagogical Sciences, OR similar;
• minimum 5 years or more relevant work experience in Higher and/or Continuing education;
• excellent communication and consultancy skills, to build and underpin advice to staff, teachers and heterogeneous teams of academic and technical experts;
• good proficiency in English (C2), proficiency in Dutch is a plus;
• excellent organisational skills;
• affinity with the Wageningen domains of environment and life sciences is a plus.

You are creative and curious by nature, and in your work, you are proactive, open, flexible, practical and solution-oriented. You are a team player with a learning attitude who can also work well under (time) pressure.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between € 4.332,- and € 5.929,- for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 11). For this position we offer a temporary contract for the period of 1 year and 0.8 fte with the possibility of a fixed contract after one year.

The Teaching and Learning Centre
As part of TLC, the Teaching and Learning (TLC), aims at optimising learning and teaching and educational innovations at our university. ESC seeks to inspire lecturers, facilitate and support their teaching and the education environment and finally to enhance lecturers’ professional teaching competences. The Teaching and Learning Centre employs around 75 staff members (60 fte) in 6 teams:

• Training & Advice - offers pedagogical advice and educational training, workshops and courses, such as the University Teaching Qualification (Basis Kwalificatie Onderwijs).
• Lifelong Learning Creation (3LC) - supports creation of continuing education beyond the bachelor and master phases, as well as curriculum development.
• Online Learning Environment - offers functional management of the digital learning environment (Brightspace) and emerging educational technology applications.
• Educational Media - supports the production of media and associated capture and distribution technologies.
• Digital Assessments - responsible for all the digital assessments in education and associate technologies.
• Society Based Education - stimulates and organises real life cases in education offered by societal partners (from business, governmental-, to civil society organisations).
