Your function within the department
The Computational Cancer Biology group focuses on gaining a better understanding of the process of tumorigenesis and response to treatment, with the ultimate aim of improving cancer patient treatment. We work towards these goals by developing computational approaches for the efficient analysis and interpretation of various data types acquired in the setting of collaborative cancer research.
We have recently established several novel lines of investigation which require experimental capabilities within our own group. As such, we are putting together an experimental team to independently generate data for new computational models, follow up on hypotheses generated through computational approaches, as well as help develop new experimental methodologies that will allow us to characterize cancer cell response in higher throughput and/or more detail.
You will have the opportunity to hone or learn a number of techniques already well established in the Molecular Carcinogenesis Division, including, but not limited to, in vitro drug response measurements, high-throughput readouts of intracellular signaling as well as functional genomic screening in cancer cells. In addition, we are also developing new techniques for single cell perturbation and measurement that you will be involved in.
