Conducting ethnographic research, you will follow two research groups and group processes to develop, execute and report on research. You are able to establish a trust bond whilst observing and researching with an open mind. With your findings you inspire your own project team to reflect critically on their work and collaborate with epidemiologists to work on an innovative research methodology for identification and managing issues around research integrity.

For this role we are looking for a PhD candidate in the field of social science (Anthropology, Science Dynamics, Sociology) with experience with ethnographic research methods. You value the quality of conducting research. Thus, you reflect on your own research work critically. You like going out into the field independently but can also function within a team. Reflecting on work together and finding concrete ways to move forward is what you are all about. A basic understanding of Dutch is required. Experience in research within the field of research integrity is advantageous.
Fixed-term contract: 4 years.
You will be employed on the basis of 36 hours per week. Appointment is for a maximum of four years, to be completed with a doctoral thesis. Your salary will start with € 2,336 gross per month in the first year, amounting to a maximum of € 2,992 gross per month in the fourth year based on a fulltime position (scale for PhD students in the Collective Labour Agreement for University Hospitals).

You will work at the Department of Public Health and Primary Care. One of the key research areas is Geriatrics in primary care, where multidisciplinary research (which includes involvement of anthropologists) is conducted to promote the best care and quality of life for vulnerable older people. We believe that a good, peaceful death is an essential part of quality of life. In this, we collaborate with Expertisecentrum Palliatieve Zorg of the LUMC academic hospital and the academic network Universitair Netwerk voor de Care sector Zuid-Holland (UNC-ZH). Furthermore, we frequently collaborate with other research groups both within the Netherlands and abroad for both substantive and methodological aspects of healthcare research.
