The department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management of Maastricht University offers a Postdoctoral Research position in data-driven personalized communication. The successful applicant contributes to research aimed at how data mining/artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to personalize communication. The research activities will take place in a joint collaboration between UM’s department of Marketing & Supply Chain Management, Brightlands Institute for a Smart Society in Heerlen, and APG Group (financial services provider operating on behalf of multiple pension funds, see www.apg.nl). The position is funded through the Think Forward Initiative Grant for Long Term Research.
The applicant is expected to conduct research in cooperation with researchers in the department, apply for external funding, develop potential PhD projects and publish in international, leading journals in the discipline. In addition, the candidate is expected to perform a limited amount of research led teaching (0.2 full time equivalent) in the MSc programs Finance, Business Intelligence and Smart Services, or Strategic Marketing. The working language is English. The position offers a competitive salary for two years and can be taken as soon as possible, but no later than April 1st, 2019.
The ideal candidate recently obtained their PhD degree. As the research will be multidisciplinary in nature, the candidate is expected to have a strong research focus in data-driven personalization (data mining, clickstream analysis, predictive modelling, user modelling) and affinity with or interest in the domain of financial decision making. Alternatively the candidate has a strong research focus in financial decision making and experience with data-driven personalization. Candidates from diverse disciplines, such as psychology, computer sciences, human computer interaction, information systems, consumer research, marketing, finance, etc. are encouraged to apply.
Experience with applying machine learning/data analysis/user modeling/data mining/predictive modeling.
Programming experience (e.g. Python, R, Matlab).
Strong research orientation.
Fixed-term contract: 2 years.
The postdoctoral position is offered for a two-year period and should commence as soon as possible, but no later than April 1st, 2019. An extension of the contract is possible, in case of successful grant acquisition. Maastricht University and SBE have excellent support for application for external funding, such as workshops, dedicated funding advisors, etc.
Salary is competitive and ranges (depending on qualifications and experience) from EUR 2709 to EUR 4274 gross per month (12 monthly payments) for a full-time employment. On top of this, there is an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end of year allowance. Non-Dutch applicants may be eligible for favourable tax treatment.
