MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS AT UT

Manufacturing systems transform scarce resources into products and are therefore at the core of the general transition towards Smart Industry (Industry 4.0). This implies a need to focus on the understanding and improvement of manufacturing systems and the related design processes for such systems. The research should involve design for intelligent manufacturing systems, ranging from synthesis approaches and tools, via the development of Smart Industry (Industry 4.0) and lean manufacturing concepts to address more general production management-oriented challenges. The manufacturing system research involves the holistic consideration of products, production, and product lifecycles, based on sophisticated and groundbreaking modelling methods and information-driven technologies for production environments.
