Are you looking for a role that will utilise your skills in team coordination, process optimisation, and effective communications? Do you have experience in student administration, and take pride in accuracy and ensuring the integrity of students' personal data and academic records?

We are currently looking for a new Head for our Admissions & Registrar department.

In this role you stand at the intersection of education and administrative life within Amsterdam University College (AUC), and you will spearhead the ongoing process of planning, evaluating and improving educational support processes. As Department Head you will also be responsible for the supervision of 8 team members of various levels of seniority, their professional development, division of tasks within the team, and the team’s overall contentment.

You will also ensure that you efficiently communicate and collaborate with AUC’s Management team, the Director of Education and the four Heads of Studies

What are you going to do?
You will:
  • Coordinate and manage the work of the administrative department, handling the educational support processes at AUC, including admission procedures, input/update/retrieval of data in the Student Information System (SIS), timetabling, registration of students in courses, input of grades and credits, provision of student record information, graduation checks, BSA, and production of diploma and diploma supplement.
  • Act as line manager for 8 team members, and be responsible for all HR aspects involved.
  • Critically review bottlenecks and develop improvements in the organisation and provision of educational services at AUC.
  • Provide aggregate data for AUC and its Management Team, including the relevant sub-committees and governance bodies.
  • Represent AUC in UvA networks of education coordinators and managers of educational logistics, and implement UvA developments within AUC when necessary.
  • Participate in MT in rotation with the other two heads of departments.

What do we require
You are:
  • a strong people manager who is experienced in coordinating and supervising an (international) team, in process optimisation and project management.
  • familiar with backoffice processes such as university admissions, course registration, course administration and diploma's/graduation, preferably in a Dutch university context.
  • stress resistant
  • able to translate curricular needs to effective processes.
  • able to communicate with a wide range of people and act as a broker between academic and support staff.
  • proactive, friendly and solution-oriented.
  • someone who enjoys working in a service-oriented environment.
  • able to communicate fluently in Dutch and in English.

Our offer
A temporary contract for 32-38 hours a week, for one year, with the prospect of a permanent contract if we assess your performance positively. An immediate start is possible. The UFO profile of Afdelingshoofd 3 is applicable. The salary, depending on relevant experience before the beginning of the employment contract, will be € 4,332 to € 5,929(scale 11) gross per month, based on a fulltime contract (38 hours a week). This is exclusive 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus. The Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities is applicable.

About AUC
Amsterdam University College (AUC) offers a Liberal Arts and Sciences programme leading to a joint Bachelor’s (Honours) degree issued by the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam. AUC is a university college, with students living and studying together on its international campus at Amsterdam Science Park. The programme is taught entirely in English, is small-scale and selective, and admits a maximum of 300 students each year based on their academic performance and motivation.
