Information
You will work as a team leader and senior developer in the Integration Systems team that currently consists of three developers and focuses on integrating DANS' repository software and services into the ecosystem of research data repositories and related services. The scope of work includes elements of knowledge management, machine learning, high-level user experience and distributed workflow processing, among others.

Typical work includes designing and developing integration capabilities between internal and external services, such as harmonising metadata collection services, linking external data quality assurance services to DANS repositories and applications, integrating DANS services with external semantic web resources. Part of the work will be experimental and focused on iteratively designing and documenting requirements and specifications for new concepts, the other part of the work will be converting such concepts into production-ready systems and ensuring the ongoing maintenance of these systems.

As team leader, you will also be responsible for establishing standards related to defining software requirements, project documentation and code review, and support team members in planning their tasks.

You will work within the Technology Section, which consists of four teams responsible for technology R&D, system development, platform provisioning and systems engineering. The Head of Technology is responsible for the overall management of the department and the Chief Technology Officer for the long-term strategy and technology roadmap.

Requirements

What do you bring.

We are looking for a motivated developer who is flexible, results- and collaboration-oriented, and preferably already has experience in leading a small team of developers. You will preferably have a degree in computer science or an academic degree with experience in system development. Candidates without this qualification, but with demonstrable experience in system development over a period of 10 years or more, are also free to apply. Also, you have a thorough command of the Dutch and English languages (spoken and written)

You also have knowledge of and demonstrable experience with:

Project-based working in a team environment

Python and Javascript programming

Git and repository/package management

Standardised APIs, such as OpenAPI

In addition, experience with any of the following is a plus:

Working with automated workflow, e.g. with Apache Airflow or Prefect

Experience with graph databases (GraphDB, Neo4j and similar) and knowledge representation using triples (RDF, SKOS)

Experience with research data infrastructure and standards-based systems - especially metadata standards for one or more scientific domains

Working with Django or similar web frameworks, experience with React

Container-based deployment

Fixed-term contract: 1 Year.
