Job description

Do you want to be part of an international dynamic research group in genomics that is supported by state-of-the-art data analysis and infrastructure for cancer research?

Your challenge
As a postdoc your primary task is to design and validate diagnostic tests for T-cell lymphoma. To achieve this, the successful candidate will identify the appropriate (Dutch) tumor cohorts together with epidemiologists and database experts of IKNL and PALGA. Next, you will employ next-generation sequencing for mutations, copy number alterations and translocations and adopt approapriate bio-informatical pipelines. Your translational interest will be challenged by integrating clinical- and immunological knowledge into the interpretation of your molecular findings.

To complement our research team, we are looking for an independent post-doctoral research fellow that stands out in creativity and ambition and is eager to work within an international, multidisciplinary EU-project team. We are looking for a Post-doc who brings the following expertise:

  • University (PhD) education in (Bio)Medical and/or Life Sciences;
  • Excellent communication skills in English and proven scientific writing talent are a prerequisite for this position;
  • Both wet- and drylab skills are desirable;
  • You have affinity with (lymphoma) biology, immunology and a clinical translational interest;
  • You are a team player able to think outside the box.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 3 years.

Salary Scale 10: 2750 tot 4361 euro gross when employed full-time (depending on qualifications and experience).

For this EU-TRANSCAN/Dutch Cancer Society/KWF funded project, we offer a 3 years contract in a young and dynamic environment in health care, covering an active research group in translational lymphoma research, lymphoma genomics and data analysis.

Your work environment
The Department of Pathology at the Cancer Center Amsterdam (CCA) of the Amsterdam UMC location VU University Medical Center (VUmc) is strategically placed and well equipped to conduct experiments necessary to investigate and implement molecular markers in clinical practice. Within an EU-funded, international research consortium, we aim to find new molecular diagnostic avenues in malignant T-cell lymphoma in order to provide patients with optimal, individualized medical care. This post-doctoral position is within the Tumor Genome Analysis Core laboratory, a dynamic research group in genomics that is supported by state-of-the-art data analysis and infrastructure for cancer research. Various fundamental- and translational genome research projects in the group are aimed to provide cancer patients with optimal, individualized medical care.
