Job description

The Development Economics Group (http://www.dec.wur.nl/UK/) is looking for a bright and inspiring Post Doc researcher. The research agenda of the Development Economics Group is broad and focuses on institutions, value chains, factor markets, sustainable development and health.

Our work is primarily empirical in nature, and often based on field experiments. We use randomised controlled trials (RCTs) for unbiased causal inference, and lab-in-the-field experiments for incentive-compatible elicitation of key attitudes and preferences. These experimental data are typically complemented with survey-based data and analysed using state-of-the-art econometric techniques. We also use survey-based data analyses to analyse rural household decision making and to complement our microeconomic work with more macroeconomic research on the impacts of natural disasters and economic liberalization policies on governance and inequality. Your work will relate to the broad topic of food systems and nutrition, (partly) in partnership with the CGIAR (https://a4nh.cgiar.org/our-research/flagship-1/).

The work involves:
  • Participation in ongoing empirical and conceptual research on food system innovations;
  • Initiating new research projects;
  • Supporting PhD students in their research design and analyses;
  • Playing a leading role in the integration of the results of different related research projects;
  • Active participation in academic debates and dissemination of research outcomes.
