Job description

A mentor supports (and gives feedback to) students in their orientation, and in the choices, they make based on their goals and reflections concerning their development as a professional (-to-be) in the field of creative technology. 

The challenge
  • Helps to explore the directions for the students individual professional development
  • helps students in making their own professional development plan, taking into account students
  • motivational reflection (wishes and values)
  • quality reflection (strengths and weaknesses)
  • work-field exploration (investigating requirements, values, possibilities and developments in work and learning)
  • career guidance (suggestion actions in learning, experimenting, organizing and profiling in order to develop in a way that fits (future) ambition)
  • networking (building and maintaining contacts focused on career development)
  • provides feedback on both the student’s professional development plan and the reflection report of the plans execution
  • gives feedback on students digital portfolio
  • has an overview of the possibilities in the context of professional development for the bachelor Creative Technology, and supports the coordinator in keeping the information towards students up-to-date
  • has at least two contact moments with a mentee per quartile

Requirements

The mentor:
  • has a bachelor degree
  • has good coaching skills
  • can build a rapport with students pursuing a bachelor’s degree program in the Netherlands
  • is familiar with the curriculum of the program
  • contributes to the development of the course Professional Development
  • is aware of and uses the referral options for students regarding matters not related to being a mentor for the course Professional Development
  • works autonomously, but also together with the Creative Technology team
  • contributes (dependent on expertise) to workshops or other education for students in the context of Professional Development
  • it is necessary that you are willing to work at the University on Wednesday afternoons.

Conditions of employment

  • we offer a 16 hours per week position, starting with a temporary appointment with the prospect of a permanent position after a positive evaluation;

  • a starting salary from € 2709,-- to € 4274,-- gross per month (scale 10, fulltime basis) based on relevant work experience;
  • a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary and a year-end bonus of 8.3%;
  • a minimum of 29 leave days in case of fulltime employment based on a formal workweek of 38 hours;
  • professional and personal development programs;
  • a solid pension scheme.

The faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS)
