Job description

Under the overall framework of the EIT RawMaterials and the RawMaterials Academy, EIT RawMaterials is looking for a Master Education & RACE Manager who will be responsible for the following:

Management of two flagship programmes in Higher Education at EIT RawMaterials – EIT-Labelled Master Education and the RACE. 

EIT-Labelled Master Programmes

Key responsibilities will include continuing the running of and developing further EIT-Labelled Master student community activities and the collaboration between the different Master programmes.

Raw & Circular Economy Expedition (RACE)

Manage the implementation of the RACE, from the call for applications, evaluation, logistics, programme development, communication and evaluation, including the coordination of all sub-contractors involved.  

Specifically, the Master Education & RACE Manager will carry out the following tasks and duties:

- Master Education 

  • Coordinate the implementation of two key value-added activities for the 6 EIT-Labelled Master Programmes in EIT RawMaterials, namely (i) Student Community & Education Experience and (ii) Cross-Programme Exchange & Collaboration
  • Manage the documentation of all Master Education activities in the organization’s process management system, including the preparation of deliverables, reporting of results and budget management
  • Student Community & Education Experience
    • Manage the operationalization of the concrete Label activities per semester for the students of all 6 Labelled Master Programmes
    • Manage the administration, communication and budget for all Label activities per semester
    • Support concrete efforts and measures to further integrate education and business creation in student community activities
    • Support the annual Label Induction Days (semester 1), whereby EIT RawMaterials, its Academy and all Label opportunities are presented to the new students
    • Coordinate the annual Label Student Board (semester 1) elections whereby all 6 EIT-Labelled Master Programmes are represented by elected EIT-Label students
    • Organize the kick-off, interim and final meeting of each Label Student Board cohort, including the logistics, agenda and meeting reports
    • Manage all communication with the Label Student Board, especially concerning the follow-up, inputs to programme development and implementation of several key Label activities
    • Coordinate the organization and overall implementation of Label-StartUP!, an entrepreneurship excursion for select EIT-Label Master students; this will include the promotional campaign, call for registrations, programme improvement, logistics/accommodation, budget, administration and student evaluation
    • Develop a process to involve EIT RawMaterials supported start-ups in Label-StartUP!, ensuring the involvement of the Business Development Managers
    • Coordinate and actively contribute to the concept note for Label-Launch! Graduation Ceremony for the graduates of all EIT-Label students taking place annually at the RawMaterials Summit 
    • Lead the organization of the annual Label-Launch! Graduation Ceremony, including all internal and external promotional activities and communication, programme development, logistics/accommodation, budget, administration.
  • Cross-Programme Exchange & Collaboration
    • Organize the bi-annual Label Meetings with the academic and administrative coordinators 

- Raw & Circular Economy Expedition (RACE)

  • Project Manager for the development, implementation and evaluation of the annual RACE, with support from a sub-contracted organization 
  • Communications
    • Develop a marketing and communication strategy, single point of contact for communication 
  • Call for applications
    • Manage the RACE website with the website 
    • Develop a dissemination strategy 
    • Launch the RACE Call for Applications
    • Coordinate the evaluation and selection of all RACE applications
  • Logistics
    • Coordinate travel, accommodation and subsistence 
  • Programme development
    • Advise and contribute to the development of the programme theme and daily learning objectives
    • Short-list potential expert lecturers to present during the RACE
    • Liaise with the Business Development Managers to ensure the RACE methodology is in alignment with select KIC business creation instruments, e.g. Jumpstarter
    • Together with the Showcase Partners, coordinate all study tours and site visits
  • Programme implementation
    • Participate in the RACE for the entire two weeks, which will take place in summer 2020
  • Evaluation and lessons learned
    • Develop and circulate the RACE evaluation to all participants in order to measure the extent to which learning objectives were achieved, the quality of all logistics, communication, overall programme and obtain lessons learned from participants to improve the RACE in 2021.

Requirements

The successful applicant will have the following profile:

Essential:

  • Proven track record in programme and project management of minimum 3 years
  • Competence to develop education programmes and the accompanying methodological frameworks necessary for effective implementation
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, decentralized partner organization
  • Is self-driven, able to work independently and make sound judgements
  • Track record of organizing large international events and meetings, including facilitation of discussions to clear results and actions
  • Strong communication skills and ability to prepare and present to different target groups and audiences
  • Fluency in written and spoken English (C2 level)
  • Willingness to travel to partners, conferences and events in Europe.

Desirable:

  • Project management experience in European- funded projects and programmes
  • A scientific background in a raw-materials related discipline.

The post holder will work closely with EIT RawMaterials’  Education Team and will report to the Head of Academy. 

Conditions of employment

The Master Education & RACE Manager will be employed by EIT RawMaterials GmbH in Berlin.

The position will be full time (40 hours per week) with starting date expected as soon as possible in 2020.
