The Department of Anthropology and Development Studies (ADS) at Radboud University is looking for an Assistant Professor. The research and educational programmes of this department focus on the relationship between diversity and inequality. The prospective assistant professor will be expected to contribute to these research and teaching programmes.
As an assistant professor you will teach courses in the Bachelor's degree programme in Anthropology and Development Studies and also contribute to the Master's degree programme. You will give lectures and seminars, and also supervise students preparing Bachelor's and Master's theses. Furthermore, there are opportunities for you to participate in the interdisciplinary Research Master's programme in Social and Cultural Sciences.
You will conduct ethnographic or mixed-methods and multidisciplinary research on issues related to the central research programme mentioned above. Your research should complement or extend the departments research into diversity and inequality, preferably with a focus on cultural diversity and solidarity in the context of neoliberal international markets. The departments research programme is a joint programme, hence you will be expected to contribute to building bridges between Anthropology and Development Studies. You should also be able to obtain external funding for your research and to attract graduate students.

The position will be embedded in the Department of Anthropology and Development Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The research in this position will align with the Radboud Social and Cultural Research programme. The faculty’s ambition is to become one of the top social science institutes in Europe, providing high-quality research and study programmes that rank among the best in the Netherlands. The Faculty of Social Sciences is the largest faculty at Radboud University, with a total of around 4,500 students spread over three educational institutions.
The Department of Anthropology and Development Studies is part of Radboud Social and Cultural Research (RSCS), which brings together the disciplines of sociology, gender and diversity studies, and anthropology and development studies. RSCS’s overarching research theme focuses on three topics: inequality, cohesion and modernisation. The Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Anthropology and Development Studies are part of the curriculum of the School of Socio-Cultural Sciences.
