Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) in Amsterdam invites enthusiastic and highly talented researchers to apply for a 'Tenure track position, Machine learning and partial differential equations' in the Scientific Computing research group.

Job description

CWI is looking for an excellent applied mathematician with research interests in machine learning (ML), partial differential equations (PDEs) and scientific computing. You have profound expertise in one or more of these areas; preferably, you combine them in your research, for example by enriching computational methods for PDEs with ML techniques or by analyzing ML algorithms from a PDE perspective. Furthermore, you have an interest in applications relevant to the Scientific Computing research group: multiscale systems, climate, finance, renewable energy, and computational fluid dynamics.

The tenure track position will be in the Scientific Computing research group at CWI. Current research topics of the group include uncertainty quantification, data assimilation, multiscale modeling and simulation, data-driven stochastic modeling, numerical algorithms for stochastic differential equations, Monte Carlo methods and rare event simulation. As a researcher at CWI Amsterdam you will have the opportunity to collaborate with mathematicians and computer scientists all across the institute.

While on a tenure track, you are expected to develop your own research line, to perform fundamental research while being open to applications, to acquire external funding, to participate in research projects together with other academic institutes or industry, and to supervise Ph.D. students.
