Job description

We are looking for a junior researcher with a MSc degree or a post-doctoral researcher with a PhD degree in public health nutrition. The candidate will work on two specific projects around the bioavailability of nutrients within the chair group of 'Global Nutrition' of the Division of Human Nutrition and Health. The first project concerns a study that looks into zinc absorption from edible insects in young children by using an isotope dilution technique, which will be conducted in Kenya. The second project will be conducted in Wageningen, the Netherlands, and concerns in vitro and in vivo studies on the bioaccessibility and bioavailability of iodine from different varieties of seaweed and seaweed products.

You are expected to be able to work on these two projects simultaneously. The specified tasks would be:

  • supervise MSc thesis and internship students;
  • to keep financial records and to provide written input for reporting to funders;
  • to present the results of research to academic and policy audiences through the writing of peer-reviewed journal articles and at conferences when opportunities arise.
