Job description

This 2.5-year post-doc position is funded by a Health Holland PPP Allowance Grant and PacingCure B.V. The project investigates the development of lentiviral gene therapy-based biological pacemakers that will be tested in human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC)-derived cells and animal models. Our ultimate goal is to realize and expand the clinical applicability of gene therapy-based biological pacemakers to treat slow heart rhythm disorders (bradyarrhythmias). As a Post-doc you will work in the AMC and in the Laboratory of Experimental Cardiology, Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) on optimizing gene therapy-based biological pacemaker constructs. Moreover, you will focus on testing novel therapies in small animal models of bradycardia, including optogenetics. You will join an enthusiast and dedicated team of researchers with different backgrounds, ranging from biology to medicine, engineering and physics. You will have access to fully equipped and operational laboratory spaces, while technicians will provide hands-on assistance whenever needed. See website for more information: https://www.medischebiologie.nl/boink-group/ & https://hartlongcentrum.nl/research/laboratory-of-experimental-cardiology/. You are expected to design experiments, conceptualize therapeutic improvements, and interact with the different team members/consortium partners to maximize scientific and therapeutic outcomes.
