Are you an economist who recently graduated or is about to graduate from a Research Master degree or equivalent? Are you passionate about academic research in the field of education and labour? Then we have the right vacancy for you!

Job description

You will work within the Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA), one of the research departments of Maastricht University's School of Business and Economics (SBE). ROA has a leading position nationally and internationally in research in the field of education and the labour market. You will also be part of the Graduate School of Business and Economics (GSBE) that coordinates SBE’s PhD programme.

ROA hosts SBE’s chair of 'Dynamics of skills allocation'. This chair focuses on scientific research into changes in the demand for skills, human capital investments and occupations choice. This PhD project focuses on how expectations shape human capital investment decisions (education, lifelong learning). Expectations could relate to preferences, academic abilities and perceived returns. By analysing microdata and setting-up field experiments, more insight should be gained into how expectations relate to choices.

You will have access and contribute to ROA and SBE’s international network of renowned scholars. You will be supervised by Prof.dr. Didier Fouarge, holder of the Chair of ‘Dynamics of skills allocation’ at SBE.
