Job description

Do you want to work on tomorrow's world? Contribute to groundbreaking innovations and developments in technical knowledge? Are you a team player who feels at home in an international and multidisciplinary environment? Then we are looking for you!

Open Science Specialist (1.0 FTE)

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is an internationally oriented research university, specialized in engineering, science & technology and known for its great scientific impact and development of technological innovations. TU/e is at the heart of society and addresses complex societal challenges by focusing on three Strategic Areas: Energy, Health and Smart Mobility through education and research.

An ambitious university requires committed support for its scientists. TU/e's Information Expertise Centre (IEC service) plays a key role in this within the themes of open science, research data management (RDM) and general data management. In addition, the IEC is responsible for the university library and archives and provides education to bachelor, master and PhD students.

Open Science aims to increase the scientific and social impact by means of an open form of scientific practice and education. This goes hand in hand with a complex system change and a cultural change. The University Library plays an important role in shaping and supporting this transition to open science. Over the next few years, we will continue to fulfil our open science ambitions by means of a university-wide programme.

The position

To strengthen the Open Science team, we are looking for an entrepreneurial and customer-focused colleague who is capable of shaping the Open Science transition and the associated services and to support scientists in this process. In this wide-ranging position, policy development and the development of services go hand in hand with operational tasks such as providing open science education (from Bachelor's to PhD students). You will report to the Head of the Library and Open Science department and work closely with colleagues within and outside the Information Expertise Centre.

Activities
  • Co-design and implementation of the TU/e Open Science programme.
  • Translating (inter)national open science developments into local policy and services.
  • Developing and teaching open science education.
  • Supporting and advising researchers on open science issues such as open access publishing, journals, and funding conditions.
  • Actively disseminating the available services and information regarding open science.
  • Providing information channels for researchers (such as the website) and maintaining information sources for the provision of services.
  • Coordinating with colleagues in order to achieve a service that is both functional and appropriate for researchers.
  • Contributing to other activities within the library where desired.
