Job description

We are seeking a tenure track Assistant Professor in the field of Organizational Behavior, Applied Psychology, Organization Studies, and/or Human Resource Management.

Requirements

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a PhD in one of the main fields;
  • Have a clear research portfolio and (forthcoming) publications in reputable scholarly journals;
  • Strive to successfully apply for research grants (e.g., NWO-Veni, EU-Marie Curie, etc.);
  • Take teaching seriously with proven ability in undergraduate and graduate teaching and supervision;
  • Obtain the University Teaching Qualification within our school; and
  • Be an ambitious self-starter as well as a good team player

Mastery of the English language is required, and proficiency in Dutch (or willingness to learn) is an advantage.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: Tenure Track.

We offer a tenure track position, with the possibility of a permanent contract. You will work in a challenging and professional environment. Many opportunities for personal development exist in an attractive international work environment. Upon meeting the tenure track criteria (available upon request), a permanent contract will be offered. Salary will be in accordance with Dutch academic salary scales, include a pension scheme, and range between €3,746 to €5,127 gross per month, dependent on experience and a record of accomplishment of the candidate. A temporary reduction in income tax (equal to 30% of taxable salary) may apply to non-Dutch candidates. The Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities (CAO) is applicable.

Initially, candidates are employed on a temporary contract as assistant professor (level 2) and agree to specific development goals. Five years into the appointment, candidates will be evaluated and if the development goals have been met, promoted to assistant professor (level 1) on a permanent contract. The evaluation can be brought forward if criteria are met earlier. On the candidate’s request the evaluation can be deferred in case of special personal circumstances, such as pregnancy leave, parental leave or chronic illness.

Department of Organization, Strategy, and Entrepreneurship

The Department of Organization, Strategy, and Entrepreneurship (OSE) is an integral Centre of Excellence of the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics. The department has gained a strong reputation in both research and education. The variety of expertise available allows us to provide excellent education at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D. level in the broad area of organization, strategy, and entrepreneurship. OSE currently houses over 40 faculty members, in addition to around 10 PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and affiliated faculty. OSE has strong ties with the Centre of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Maastricht University. Research is multidisciplinary and spans the fields of Industrial Organization and Entrepreneurship, International Business and Strategic Management, and Organizational Behavior as well as the interrelationships between these disciplines. Digital business has become an increasingly important topic in both research and education. OSE is now building capacity to address related issues such as digital transformation and its consequences for organizational capabilities, learning, and strategy, the broader institutional effects of innovation, network strategies, and business analytics.
