Job description

The lecturer position offers ample opportunity for personal and professional development in a stimulating international and collegial work environment. The Finance Group participates in the Bachelor programme in Economics and Business, the MBA programme, and runs the Master in Finance and the executive Master in International Finance programmes. Excellent candidates from all major finance areas are welcome. We are looking for individuals with potential for exceptional teaching performance and broad interests in financial economics.

The main tasks of the candidates are teaching, thesis supervision and teaching coordination in the (under)graduate, master and executive education  programs.

Requirements

Preferably a PhD degree in Finance (or in a related field) or a PhD degree near completion. Alternatively, extensive relevant teaching experience at the Bachelor or Master levels. Almost all teaching in the department is in English which is the language spoken in the Finance group. English is also an official language in administrative affairs at the University of Amsterdam.

Our offer

The lecturer in finance will initially be offered a contract for one year, after which a multi-year extension is possible. Starting date will be 1 January 2021 or such other date as may be mutually agreed.

Salary will be in accordance with Dutch academic salary scales. For a lecturer this is min €2,790 and  max €5,127 (+16.3% holiday and end-year payments) dependent on experience and track record of the candidate. A temporary reduction in income tax (equal to 30% of taxable salary) may apply to non-Dutch candidates. The Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities is applicable.

Faculty of Economics and Business - Amsterdam Business School
