Your Challenges
Educational Innovation has a high priority on the strategic agenda of the School of Business and Economics (SBE), University Maastricht. A critical success factor is the implementation of technology-enhanced learning in educational practice. For that purpose, we are seeking an assistant professor specialized in student assessment, and how e-learning technology can be used for assessment and learning purposes. We want you to contribute to our new research and development initiative on innovation in higher education and the role of technology-enhanced learning. In particular we are searching for expertise on student assessment and how e-learning tools can be used for assessment as feedback for and of learning. You will be part of the SBE Learning Academy team and contribute to policy development of SBE’s Educational Institute. The SBE Learning Academy is responsible for supporting teachers in their continuous professional development. One of your main tasks will be to develop, conduct research, and implement technology-enhanced learning in the context of problem-based learning. In this respect, you will be closely involved in the School’s educational innovation discussions and initiatives. Moreover, we expect you to teach in our Bachelor and Master courses (max 20% of your time). Finally, you will work in close collaboration with SBE teaching staff, and participate in our research (30%) and educational development activities (50%). You are receptive for team work within our department.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for applicants for a full-time position as educational scientist or psychologist, with a specific interest in innovative student assessment in Higher Education. This is a tenure-track position as assistant professor. Successful candidates will, by the time of appointment, have:
Your Expertise
You have experience with - or can prove interest in – student assessment and technology-enhanced learning in the setting of Higher Education. You have gained experience (work-related or degree-related) in educational research, teaching in Higher Education, and project management.
Fixed-term contract: 10 Years.
What We Offer
Candidates receive a one-off temporary employment contract for 10 years as an assistant professor (level 2). Five years after the appointment, or sooner if the pre-established criteria have been met, a permanent position as assistant professor (level 1) is granted. The 10-year contract allows for any delays arising from special circumstances such as maternity leave, parental leave or long-term illness. The terms of employment of Maastricht University are set out in the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities (CAO- NU). Furthermore, local UM provisions also apply. On top of this, there is an 8% holiday allowance and an 8,3% year-end bonus.
