Job description

AUC is looking for a staff member on a part-time basis (0.2 FTE) and for an initial period of 2 years, working with others to provide coordination and consistent monitoring of our diversity action plan.

This is a senior-level administrative position and open to applicants who currently work in either academic or administrative roles. The position can be held concurrently with other fractional appointments.

The appointee will report to the Dean.

What are you going to do?

In this role you will work closely with the Management Team of AUC, as well as liaising with key internal and external stakeholders. Your tasks include:

  • maintain an overview of progress on the AUC's Framework and Action Plan for Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity, including its further development, implementation and review;
  • regularly and transparently report on progress, both internally and externally (including responsibility for updating and further developing the Diversity section of AUC’s website in liaison with the Communications team, and writing regular progress reports for the Extended Management Team);
  • liaise with the VU and UvA Chief Diversity Officer teams, and proactively identify and follow-up on AUC's involvement in relevant university initiatives and activities;
  • coordinate and support AUC’s Diversity Leadership Team. This includes providing meeting organisation, note taking and follow ups; 
  • (co-)organise community events and feedback relating to diversity;
  • manage own diary, administration and organisation.

What do we require?

Although previous experience in a similar role would be preferred, this temporary position is also suitable for someone with transferable skills and able to learn fast on-the-job. Attributes and skills required:

  • flexibility and enthusiasm;
  • enjoy working in a small team with a lot of individual responsibility in a dynamic international and service-oriented academic environment;
  • well-developed interpersonal and intercultural communication skills;
  • excellent verbal and written English is required, and good Dutch is an advantage;
  • well-developed skills with MS Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), experience with MS Teams an advantage;
  • to display the ability and capacity to develop independent and vigorous ;
  • fluency in English, both written and spoken;
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent;
  • demonstrable commitment to AUC's values, including our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and their relevance to AUC's Liberal Arts & Sciences education;
  • preferably prior experience in relevant area(s) of work (such as supporting curriculum design, academic planning and management, or diversity);
  • proactive connector;
  • ability to synthesise large amounts of information and to prioritise among competing interests;
  • strong project management and organisational skills.

Because of the coronavirus measures, the expectation is that the selected candidate will (at least in the coming months) work from home as much as possible (AUC will provide the use of a laptop if required). You will take part in online meetings (video-conferencing).

Conditions of employment

Our offer

A temporary contract for 7,6  hours per week, preferably starting at 19 October 2020 for the duration of 24  months. The UFO Job profile is Policy Officer/Beleidsmedewerker 3.

The salary, depending on relevant experience before the beginning of the employment contract, will be  €3,746 to €5,127 (scale 11) gross per month, based on a full-time contract of 38 hours a week. This is exclusive 8 % holiday allowance and 8,3% end-of-year bonus. If the chosen candidate is already employed by AUC/UvA on a higher salary scale, they will combine this function with the existing function, and the higher salary scale will apply to the entire appointment. The Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities is applicable.
