Job description

Delft University of Technology invites applications for a group leader position at QuTech in theory and applications of noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) devices. Depending on the applicant’s profile, the group leader position at QuTech could be embedded as an assistant professor position at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS).

Requirements

The successful candidate is a theorist who is foremost interested and able to work closely with some of the experimentalists in quantum computing at QuTech. The candidate has knowledge and research interests in subjects such as quantum algorithms, analog/digital quantum simulation, variational quantum optimization methods, quantum machine learning, quantum error correction or quantum benchmarking. Depending on the applicant’s profile, the group leader position at QuTech can be embedded as an assistant professor position at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS). The embedding at EEMCS should be based on synergy between the research program of the candidate and the research and teaching activities in either electrical engineering, computer science or mathematics. In this case, the candidate is expected to participate in the teaching of courses in quantum technology and other subjects in EEMCS.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 6 years.

The successful applicant can expect a competitive start-up package to enable a quick start of their research program. Candidates will be appointed on a tenure-track basis with the prospect of a tenured position following a successful evaluation after 5 years. In exceptional cases, experienced candidates will be considered for a tenured position.

The actual salary will be based on your knowledge and relevant work-experience (€ 3.746 - € 5.826 gross per month based on a full-time basis). Full-time means 38 working hours per week.
