Job description

You will be appointed as post-doc researcher in our team. Your main activities will evolve around the European WELLBASED project. Our task in this project is to set up, perform and analyse the results from a controlled trial which aims to assess the effectiveness of a programme to decrease energy poverty in 6 European cities. Next to the WELLBASED project you will be involved in other projects and activities of our team, such as the VALUECARE project, supervising PhD students, writing scientific papers and applying for new research funding.

This position offers you the opportunity to develop a broad set of skills in project management, supervision, writing and acquisition as post-doc/ senior researcher. You will be able to gain more experience with a broad range of quantitative and qualitative research methods, applied to addressing highly relevant societal challenges among citizens across Europe, potentially resulting in significant health impact.

You will work in an interdisciplinary research team that includes a comprehensive mix of relevant backgrounds, including clinical practice, public health, psychology and sociology. In the WELLBASED project you will be responsible for organising the study, collecting the data (e.g. develop questionnaires to be used) and analysing the data. Furthermore, you will actively contribute to the activities in the team (e.g. organising research meetings), support ongoing projects (e.g. during data collection) and exchange research findings with scientific and non-scientific partners (e.g. write scientific papers).

Requirements

  • You are a PhD graduates in Health Sciences, Public Health, Epidemiology, Medicine, Psychology, or a related field.
  • You have the following key skills: quantitative analysis, scientific communication (oral and written) and project management.
  • You have affinity with quantitative research and want to acquire further experience in advanced data analysis, writing of scientific papers and supervision of PhD students.
  • You are interested and motivated to contribute to acquisition of funding by developing new project ideas together with colleagues in- and outside academia.
  • Furthermore, the department highly supports the candidates who want to develop their skills in acquisition, multidisciplinary collaboration, leadership, goal-oriented working, creativity, initiative, engagement, vision, and visibility.
  • We offer the opportunity for candidates who have the ambition to develop as a post-doc/senior researcher in the field of public health.

Conditions of employment

  • There are two job applications open for the WELLBASED project (junior researcher and post-doc researcher). Only one position is available for 12 months (junior or post-doc), this position will be extended to a maximum of 4 years contingent on a satisfactory performance in the first year.
  • The gross monthly salary amounts a maximum of € 4615,- (scale 10), depending on your level of education and relevant experience and based on a full-time working week of 36 hours. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Medical Centers (CAO UMC).
