The University of Leiden and the Institute of Security and Global Affairs in particular have advanced a multidisciplinary approach to the study of security and global affairs. A strong emphasis is placed on an integrated perspective of safety and security. This approach studies the causes, opportunities and impact of security challenges and incidents from an interdisciplinary lens. The Chair Safety Science contributes to the development of that integrated perspective by enhancing the knowledge of risk management Safety Science and Security Studies within the Institute of Security and Global Affairs.
It will focus on questions such as:
Research and teaching within the Chair will be expected to address and analyse current cases and application domains that merit both safety and security attention (including but not limited to industrial security, climate change threats, public health and pandemics, man-made and natural disasters).
Key responsibilities
We offer a full-time temporary appointment for initially a period of five years, convertible into a permanent position in case of satisfactory performance. The gross monthly salary will be between € 5.749,- and € 8.371,- commensurate with qualifications and experience. These amounts are based on a fulltime appointment and are in conformity with current salary scales (HL-2) under the collective employment agreement (CAO) for Dutch Universities.
