Applicants are invited for a one-year postdoctoral researcher position on a project on antiviral small molecules. This position is available at the Institute for Molecules and Materials (IMM).
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team aiming to develop new antiviral lead compounds against SARS CoV-2. You will be involved in the design and synthesis of new compounds, but you will also strongly interact with project partners that perform the biological evaluation of these compounds. Besides organic synthesis, experience with medicinal chemistry and/or computer-aided drug design is advantageous. We offer you a challenging project, in which you will have the opportunity to contribute to combating the coronaviruses.
Fixed-term contract: 1 year.
Additional employment conditions
Work and science require good employment practices. This is reflected in Radboud University's primary and secondary employment conditions. You can make arrangements for the best possible work-life balance with flexible working hours, various leave arrangements and working from home. You are also able to compose part of your employment conditions yourself, for example, exchange income for extra leave days and receive a reimbursement for your sports subscription. And of course, we offer a good pension plan. You are given plenty of room and responsibility to develop your talents and realise your ambitions. Therefore, we provide various training and development schemes.
We want to get the best out of science, others and ourselves. Why? Because this is what the world around us desperately needs. Leading research and education make an indispensable contribution to a healthy, free world with equal opportunities for all. This is what unites the more than 22,000 students and 5,000 employees at Radboud University. And this requires even more talent, collaboration and lifelong learning. You have a part to play!
You will be part of the IMM, one of the main research institutes at the Faculty of Science (FNWI). IMM is a research institute in chemistry and physics that promotes interdisciplinary research. Its mission is to design and create functional molecules and materials to fundamentally understand their behaviour. IMM consists of 20 research groups active in fields ranging from condensed matter to organic chemistry and biochemistry. It focuses on fundamental research with an open eye to societal applications and trains the next generation of leaders in science and innovation. IMM distinguishes itself from similar institutes by intensive collaboration and interaction between chemists and physicists and/or experimentalists and theorists and an excellent infrastructure including the Scanning Probe Laboratories, Laser Labs, Magnetic Resonance Research Centre, the High Field Magnet Laboratory and the Free Electron Laser Laboratory (HFML-FELIX). The Synthetic Organic Chemistry group is part of the molecular chemistry cluster within IMM, which consists of five chair groups with a total of approximately 75 staff, including PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers, and has a large number of students.
The Faculty of Science is a complete, student-oriented science faculty where research and teaching are closely intertwined. The faculty aims to be an academic community with an international character where employees from different backgrounds combine their talents with the goal of being a leading science faculty in Europe.
