Why study design at Delft? Shape our communications to attract tomorrow's Delft designers.

Job description

As a Communication Officer at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering (IDE), you will be responsible for communicating the Bachelor and three Master programmes of this faculty. Your goal is to help attract the right students who will go on to follow IDE’s education programmes, ultimately becoming the Delft designers of tomorrow.

You combine excellent presentation skills with great organisational skills. You know how to see a job through to a happy end. You are equally at home in the world of online communications as in the world of events (whether online and live). You are able to work independently in your specialist area of student information but you can also delegate. Indeed, you will benefit from a team of student assistants, who will help you achieve your communications goals. You will steer this team of IDE insiders, who will assist with on-campus open days and information sessions in high schools.

You will be joining the faculty at an exciting time with a renewed Bachelor in Industrial
Design Engineering launching in the 2021/2022 academic year, and the three Masters programmes at the beginning of a renewal process. You will immerse yourself in the details of the programmes and follow developments which will help you keep the information up to date.

You will also collaborate closely with your counterparts in the other seven faculties of TU Delft, and a central student information team.

The job includes the following regular activities and tasks:

  • Presentation of programmes online – including webpages and social media
  • Regular showcasing of exemplary student projects whether as exhibits at open days or online
  • Manage online events for potential future students
  • Open Campus Days for Dutch prospective Bachelor students
  • Organisation of faculty visits (meeloopdagen)
  • Organisation of Master events targeting current TU Delft students, as well as international students
  • Create and manage printed materials and (video) presentations (BSc and MSc)
  • Coordination of the promotion team of approximately 10 student assistants
  • Coordination of information events at high schools in the Netherlands
  • Coordination of photography/filming of IDE education in progress in order to give a taste of what it means to study at the faculty
  • In addition, there are also projects, such as setting-up an online introductory study for IDE, coordinating the loan of exhibition equipment in the faculty, coordination of the faculty’s partnerships with student DreamTeams, contributing to alumni relations.

Within the IDE communications team you will also act as a support to colleagues – contributing to faculty wide events and engaging and managing suppliers (including caterers, designers, printers, photographers and film producers and student assistants).
