Job description

The School of Business and Economics is looking for an experienced events coordinator to join the School of Business and Economics’ marketing and communication (M&C) team. 
In this role, you would join an international team of 7 people. The team develops and carry out marketing and communications activities to support the School’s strategy and objectives. They are responsible for internal and external communication, strategic and research communication, student recruitment and events.

The Events Team is responsible for the development, successful execution and evaluation of events that contribute to the Schools marketing and communications strategic goals and targets. Examples of events the team organises include the Bachelor and Master Open Day or graduation ceremonies. Most activities are related to the areas of student recruitment and student life. 
Since last year, the team has also started to organise and implement several online and hybrid events. In the coming years, we will continue to explore innovative ways of offering online and hybrid events alongside our on-campus events. 
As an event coordinator, you will work closely with the other events coordinator in the team as well as with the recruiters and communication officer. You will report to the School’s head of M&C. 
Your main tasks will include: 

  • Planning and management of different events. This includes tasks such as managing registration, coming up with a programme and creative activities, managing external suppliers, coordinating event personnel, etc.
  • Co-development of communication plans for the promotion of events (social media campaigns, emailing campaigns).
  • Management of online event platforms. 
  • Evaluation of events and proposals for improvements.

Requirements

  • A minimum education level of HBO in a relevant field, for example in communication or event/ hotel management.
  • At least two years’ experience in the field of event coordination.
  • Planning and organising skills and experience with online tools (at least two years experience in event related positions).
  • Ability to handle and manage stress .
  • Intrinsically motivated to innovate and interested in developing online event concepts.
  • Flexibility: several events are during the weekend or in the evenings.
  • Creativity and an eye for detail.
  • Commitment to the client.
  • Fluent in English and Dutch, both in writing and speaking.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year.

We offer a 0.8 FTE appointment for the period of one year, with the possibility of a permanent contract afterwards based on a mutual match. Remuneration will be according to scale 8 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, depending on education and relevant work experience. This implies a gross monthly salary between € 2.656,00 and € 3.548,00 per month (based on a full-time appointment). Each year the standard salary is supplemented with a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.

The university’s relocation policy stipulates that the selected candidate is supported to move to (the vicinity of) Maastricht. If the candidate is not already living in Maastricht (or its direct surroundings), they will be eligible for moving allowances. Other secondary conditions include a pension scheme, extensive leave entitlements, commuting allowance, parental and partner leave, and more.
