We are looking for a Application Technology Specialist, SBU Specialties.

Job purpose and responsibilities

  • Lead, drive and develop new and innovative solutions for the water management market segment
  • Validate predictive engineering work with ground breaking application testing
  • Work in multidisciplinary teams of Technology, Customer fulfillment, Business teams and secure growth short-, medium- and long- term
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate with external institutes.
  • Provide guidance to a team of highly qualified technicians
  • Promote and increase market awareness that our materials can provide enhanced system efficiency in solutions in water management, by webinars, technical articles, press release, engagement with strategic customers, etc.

Requirements

  • The candidate should be a self-motivated professional able to work independently to reliably deliver results
  • MSc or PhD in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering with an affinity to materials science
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in product development, application or technical marketing.
  • Experience with technical (and product) road-mapping is seen as a plus 
  • Solid understanding of structural-property relationship of (engineering) plastics, especially when it comes to end-use applications
  • Can-do mentality and willing to challenge the status quo both with internal stakeholders but also customers
  • Good communication skills: able to deliver technical messages effectively.
  • Team player capable of working with multidisciplinary and global teams but also able to work independently on your own contribution

Application Technology and Specification

The Application Technology and Specification organization within SABIC Specialties supports and develops state of the art knowledge in the areas of plastics processing, secondary operations, application testing and computer aided design and engineering. The team works closely with product lines Technology, customer facing and business teams, and our customers to attain their goals of enhanced system efficiency and achieve a competitive edge. 
Our portfolio of materials and advanced offerings (e.g. advanced anisotropic modeling, long-term material and application testing, etc) for water management has revolutionized products ranging from pumps, to water meters, to piping and even hot water heaters. We have worked with our customer to deliver cost reduction and improved lifetime performance in demanding operating environments. For our center of excellence in water management based in Bergen op Zoom, we are currently looking for a high energy, goal oriented Specialist to further strengthen our competences and capabilities.
