Grant Support team at Tilburg University is looking for a grant support officer. The grant support officer will have three tasks: provide (1) award support, (2) support for cross-school external funding and (3) assist the Grant Support team with occurring activities. For tasks (1) and (2) the grant support officer will closely collaborate with the Policy Staff of the Executive Board.

Job description

The position is newly created within the team and concerns some new tasks that will require pioneering. The award support task concerns the mapping of relevant network of scientists (e.g. KNAW member, De Jonge Akademie members) within Tilburg University for prizes and awards. The information of the scientist in these networks can contribute to developing informed strategies for academic prize and award calls. The task of supporting university-wide, cross-school external funding includes contributing to the strategic information position on these funding schemes (e.g. Groeifonds) and supporting scientist in their contribution to proposals. In addition, the grant support officer will assist the Grant Support Team in case of peak loads. 

 

Grant Support is the competence center within Tilburg University that supports and advises scientists in obtaining funding for research and education. The Grant Support Team consists of two (sub)teams, one for individual grants and one for collaborative grants. Grant Support closely works together with researchers and management of the five Schools of Tilburg University (Economics and Management, Law, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Humanities and Digital Sciences, and Theology) and other support units. Grant Support is part of the Academic Services Division.

 

Tasks:

  • Map relevant networks of scientist within Tilburg University for academic prizes and awards.
  • Analyze the profile of scientist that have won awards and prizes and analyze how to position TiU scientist to increase opportunities for participating more successfully in prize and award calls. 
  • Organizing meetings with TiU members of relevant networks such as the KNAW or De Jonge Akademie.
  • Liaise with the policy staff of the Executive Board.
  • Map and support university-wide, cross-school external funding opportunities (e.g. Groeifonds), for example by attending externally organized workshops and information meetings.
  • Reading and in some cases assist in writing nominations for academic prizes and awards and proposals for external funding.   
  • Assist the Individual Grants Team and the Collaborative Grants Team with occurring activities in peak loads, such as training events for researchers and feedback rounds on research proposals.

  • Completed Master degree.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 12 months.

The position is 0.8 fte. We offer a contract for one year. The gross monthly salary depends on, among other things, age and relevant experience and amounts to a maximum of € 4.474 for a full-time employment contract (UFO position: Policy Officer, level 4 / scale 10). In addition, the university has excellent employment conditions, such as a good study facilities scheme and the possibility to determine your employment conditions partly individually by means of a so-called choice model.

The Academic Services Division (Academic Services | Tilburg University) of Tilburg University is responsible for formulating and implementing the university's research, education and impact policies. The organisational and administrative support for programmes, graduate schools and research programmes is organised from the division. In addition, Academic Services provides guidance to students, lecturers, researchers and PhD students and supports the acquisition of research funds and the valorisation of research results. The division is divided into three units: Education, Research and Impact (Knowledge Transfer Office). Grant Support is part of the unit Research.
