Do you see opportunities for facilitating and promoting research in the fields of language, culture, history and identity, and do you not shy away from taking responsibility at management level? Then the position of Research Funding and Strategic Collaboration Coordinator is for you. As a member of the management team, you will be responsible for identifying strategic funding opportunities and partnerships for the multidisciplinary research of the Fryske Akademy. Our members, donors, and societies will also be an area of focus for you.
In this position you stimulate talent and see opportunities for the strategic positioning of the Fryske Akademy's research. Together with your colleagues, you know how to convert these opportunities into regional, national, and international projects, often in collaboration with partners. You coach both young talent and very experienced scientists in submitting project applications and advise the Managing Director about future possibilities.
The Fryske Akademy is a flat organisation in which you work closely together with scientists, the non-scientific staff, and the small management team. A core team of around 15 researchers, supported by project-based (guest) researchers, conducts high-quality research into long-term developments of the Frisian case in a European and comparative perspective, as well as into specific themes and the development of practical (digital) applications for society. The themes studied vary from language description, multilingualism and language learning to history, society, culture and identity, which are carried out on a project basis. From expertise related to the Frisian language, major themes that reach beyond Friesland alone are worked on, and with expertise from partners, a new way of looking at the Frisian language, culture, and history is developed.
The Fryske Akademy wants to focus even more on opportunities for talented researchers and multi- and interdisciplinary research, for which it collaborates with regional, national, and international partners. Moreover, the Akademy wants to strengthen its position in Europe by communicating its expertise and exchanging knowledge more widely.
We are looking for an enterprising colleague who follows the developments of new funding instruments and informs and enthuses researchers about them. In line with the renewed focus you will advise on both individual and consortium grants, such as applications in the Dutch National Research Agenda and EU Horizon programmes (e.g. Horizon, Erasmus+, and Creative Europe). You will support researchers throughout the entire grant application process, from identifying a suitable programme to advising on the structure of the application and commenting on drafts. In collaboration with the substantive programme coordinator(s), you will advise on the progress of projects within the research agenda. Furthermore, you will share insights into the formation of strategic alliances and partnerships, with the aim of realising cooperation agreements with (inter)national partners and external projects. You work together with colleagues from the institute.
