Job description

Within the context of the Netherlands X-omics Initiative (coordinated by Alain van Gool, Radboudumc), we are looking for an ambitious bioinformatician, who develops data analysis and integration approaches for multi-omics (genome, transcriptome, proteome, metabolome) data from rare disease patients and population cohorts. As a bioinformatician, you will closely work with biomedical and clinical researchers from Radboudumc and X-omics partners and develop FAIR and reproducible knowledge-based data analysis workflows to investigate disease mechanisms. You are committed to the counselling and training of biomedical and clinical researchers in computational approaches. You will contribute to the realization of a digital research environment (DRE) where these computational approaches can be applied, and which contributes to the Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability and Reusability (FAIRness) of data, tools and services.

Tasks and responsibilities
  • Develop and benchmark computational approaches for the analysis of multi-omics data.
  • Lead scientist in the analysis of relevant multi-omics data sets from rare disease patients or population cohorts.
  • Advise and support biomedical scientists and clinicians in multi-omics analyses and FAIR data management.
  • Co-develop software, tooling, services, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) / policy around the FAIR capture, analysis and publication of data and metadata.
  • Participation in national and international meetings and communities such as the European Joint Programme on Rare Diseases, RD-Connect, Europe's bioinformatics infrastructure ELIXIR, the Netherlands X-omics infrastructure.
