The Amsterdam School of Economics (ASE) at the University of Amsterdam seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Professor in Econometrics and Data Science (tenure track). Candidates combining expertise in these fields with a research interest in Environmental or Health Economics are specifically encouraged to apply.

Requirements

Applicants must have, or be close to obtaining, a PhD degree in Quantitative Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Data Science or a related field. We seek candidates with a high potential for creative and independent research, the willingness to collaborate and interact with members of the team, the ability to teach mathematics and quantitative economics related courses to undergraduate and graduate students, and the ability to communicate research in seminars, conferences and in the classroom.

Conditions of employment

Assistant Professor appointments are six-year tenure-track positions, with a tenure decision based on proven excellence in research and teaching. The ASE offers competitive European salaries. The gross monthly salary during the first three years as Assistant Professor will typically be, depending on experience and potential, between €4,207 and  €5,211 (salary scale 11) + 16.3% holiday and end-year payments. This is based on 38 hours per week and in accordance with the salary scales and the collective labor agreement regulating employment conditions at Dutch universities. Researchers from outside the Netherlands can apply for a 5 years tax-free allowance equal to 30% of their taxable salary. The University of Amsterdam (UvA) offers a very attractive pension scheme. The teaching load is moderate and all teaching is in English. We also offer assistance in finding accommodation and career support for partners.
