Job description

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering (EE) is one of the most successful faculties in the Netherlands in the field of research in collaboration with industry. Currently, the faculty has approximately 1200 Bachelor and Master students and more than 300 PhD students.

The vacancy is part of the research program in the departments "Electromagnetics (EM)" and "Integrated Circuits (IC)" in the field of antennas and (high-frequency and mixed-signal) electronics, including the field of new smart antenna concepts which will be introduced in the next 10 years in 6G wireless communications, but also in other applications such as in car radar to enable autonomous driving.

We are looking for a Lab manager for smart antennas and electronics for 1,0 fte (fulltime).

Tasks

You are responsible for:
  • Developing new measurement methods;
  • Advising other researchers on the construction and use of measurement setups;
  • and managing the labs.

Requirements

As a Lab manager, you will be a key player in the development of new measurement facilities that we will use for, among other things, testing millimeter-wave components for smart antennas in 6G and car-radar applications, for the frequency range between 30-500 GHz. The smart antennas contain highly sophisticated integrated electronic circuits, requiring new measurement concepts. You will be part of world-leading research groups working with leading European companies in this field. TU/e also offers you various opportunities for further development in your career.

We also ask you to contribute to the development of new technologies.

You have a completed HBO Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics degree. Affinity and interest in the development of supporting software for controlling instrumentation is a plus. Furthermore, a good command of (the Dutch and) English language orally and in writing.

Conditions of employment

We offer an interesting and challenging full-time position with various opportunities for further development. It is initially a fixed term contract for one year with the intention, in case of proven suitability, to convert this contract into a permanent one (period depending on any internal training to be followed).

The conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. The TU/e also offers attractive secondary employment conditions including childcare, excellent sports facilities, 41 days of vacation and a year-end bonus of 8.3%.
