Job description

As Catering & Rental Officer, you are responsible for the acceptance, processing and execution of requests for reservations and events. You are also co-responsible for the bar shifts and the course of events. You manage student employees and solve possible problems adequately. You ensure that the business operations run smoothly and the guests of X feel comfortable.

During bar shifts, you ensure the correct stock at the start of the shift, pay attention to the correct distribution of work during the shift and you are responsible for the cash register. During office shifts, you take on reservations and requests and make sure that the customer's wishes and expectations are met.  You are also responsible for the coordination of events, lunches and receptions.

You work alternating shifts within a timeframe of 7:00 - 1:30 a.m., depending on events and busyness, on weekdays and weekends. You will work with a fixed recurring schedule as much as possible.

Catering, Rental & Retail
The team Catering, Rental & Retail is responsible for the daily offer of commercial products in catering and rental. This means the development and realisation of the offer of Cafe X, the Concept Store and Freetown (free student zone), catering on campus and rental of our location. The team consist of 10 permanent employees and has a flexpoule of 30 (student) employees.

Requirements

  • You have affinity with students.
  • You have at least 3 years of relevant hospitality or banqueting experience and at least 1 year of experience as a manager.
  • You have relevant hospitality diplomas, social hygiene, secondary school hotel education or an equivalent of this.
  • You have a good command of the Dutch and/or English language, both spoken and written.
  • You have knowledge of and experience with Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience with Delcom and SharePoint is a plus.
  • You have a commercial attitude with an affinity for sales and after sales conversations.
  • You are entrepreneurial, enthusiastic and have hospitality in your blood.
  • You are a good planner, effortlessly identify bottlenecks and have excellent problem-solving skills.
  • You find it challenging to proactively brainstorm about and implement new things. In doing so, you focus on the quality of the service of X.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 jaar.

  • Duration of contract is 1 year.
  • A job of 30-40 hours per week.
  • A salary based on scale 7 of the CAO for Dutch Universities with a minimum of € 2.367,- and a maximum of € 3.196,- gross per month, plus 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.

Education & Student Affairs (ESA) provides educational support by taking care of education and student administration, coordinating education policy, supporting and supervising Dutch and international students and PhD candidates, providing training in teaching and other areas, giving educational advice and support and organising sport & culture activities. ESA is made up of the departments Education Service Centre, Academic Services, Extension School and X. ESA employs around 250 staff.
