Do you like to teach students the interesting field of Plant Breeding? Do you get energy from interacting with students in small and large groups, both in live and online settings? We have a vacancy for a teacher, so is a position focused entirely on teaching. Plant Breeding is involved in education, research and consultation in the field of plant breeding in the broadest sense. As a group, Plant Breeding is a collaboration between the business unit Plant Breeding of Wageningen Plant Research and the Chair Group Plant Breeding. You will join our educational team of Plant Breeding which is involved in education at all levels from BSc, MSc and PhD to specific courses for external parties. A large part of our teaching effort is in BSc and MSc courses, both on-campus and in the framework of the online master's programme Plant Breeding. On-campus courses usually have high student numbers. Because some aspects can be more effectively taught in a small setting, an important task for you will be educating small groups. Next to that, assistance in course coordination is desired, because this is a lot of work in large courses. Finally, you will help with courses within our online master's programme. Moderation of online courses has yet different dynamics, which combines small-scale education with designing a clear course set-up. Because of the large amount of interaction with our teaching staff and students, you need to be a real team-player with a love for education. All-in-all our new colleague will have many opportunities to develop him/herself into a full-blown lecturer and course coordinator. Is it you?

Requirements

Do you have:
  • an MSc or PhD with an excellent understanding of plant breeding;
  • strong didactic skills and enthusiasm for teaching (on-line and on-campus) and working with (international) students in a broad range of courses (teaching qualification is a plus);
  • ability to strengthen small-scale education (on-line and on-campus);
  • ambition to develop into a main lecturer and coordinator of courses;
  • affinity with the domains of Wageningen University (e.g. water, food, energy, biodiversity, climate change, circular economy);
  • good organization and communication skills;
  • fluency in English and preferably also in Dutch/willingness to learn the Dutch language?

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. Depending on your experience, we offer lecturer position for three years, with a competitive gross salary of between €2836,- and €4474,- for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (Teacher 4, scale 10). Additionally, a contract for 0.3 - 0.7 FTE can be discussed.
