We are currently seeking to recruit a creative and ambitious junior group leader, who will further develop an independent research line and group within the Department of Medical Biochemistry. The initial Tenure Track appointment is for 5 years and is intended, upon a satisfactory review in the 3rd and 5th year, to lead to an independent research profile and permanent position as a principal investigator at the level of assistant/associate professor.
The Department of Medical Biochemistry at the Amsterdam UMC, location AMC, is fully dedicated to fundamental-translational biomedical research. It hosts 6 PIs with their research groups focusing on different aspects of biochemical, molecular, and immunological features of metabolic and vascular diseases. Research groups in the department are affiliated with the Research Institutes Amsterdam Cardiovascular Sciences (ACS), Amsterdam Infection and Immunity (AII), and Amsterdam Gastroenterology, Endocrinology and Metabolism (AGEM). The department of Medical Biochemistry has an excellent track record in high-level cutting-edge science, and has been very successful in acquiring prestigious personal and (inter)national consortium grants. Amsterdam UMC has outstanding core genomics, metabolomics, animal research, flow cytometry, and imaging facilities. The department contributes to the educational programs of the Medical School, Biomedical Sciences, and Amsterdam University College.
The Department has 65 employees with whom you will collaborate and share equipment and facilities. Given that the clinic and the research are in one building this provides the unique possibility to connect your basic research to clinical problems. Through interaction with clinicians you will have easy access to biobank samples and databases.
