Job description

The International Services team of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam provides accommodation for International Staff. We are looking for an Accommodation Officer who is responsible for the organisation and administration of the housing services for international staff.

Your duties
  • Coordinating and processing housing applications via VU housing for international guests, staff members and PhD students
  • Giving advice on how to find alternative accommodation
  • Relationship management with international staff before and during their arrival in the Netherlands and at the VU
  • Contribute to a welcoming and international atmosphere
  • Contribute to the development and overall improvement of procedures

Requirements

  • Completed education at HBO level
  • Experience with supporting internationals coming to the Netherlands
  • A strong service-oriented, proactive and welcoming attitude
  • Strong intercultural communication skills are a must
  • Excellent communicating skills in English and Dutch (verbal and in writing)

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year.

A challenging position in a socially involved organization. On full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of €2.710 and a maximum €3,619 (scale 8), depending on your education and experience. The job profile: is based on the university job ranking system and is vacant for 0.8 FTE.

The initial employment contract will affect a period of 1 year.

Additionally, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam offers excellent fringe benefits and various schemes and regulations to promote a good work/life balance, such as:
  • a maximum of 41 days of annual leave based on full-time employment, 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus, solid pension scheme (ABP), contribution to commuting expenses

International Office
The International Office (IO) is responsible for advising on the internationalization strategy at the institutional level and advises, and provides services, to students and international staff of the university. The Mobility Department processes the applications from international students who want to enrol in an English-taught Bachelor's or Master's programme, provides the credential evaluation of foreign certificates and processes the applications of visas, residence permits and work permits for students and staff. In addition, we inform students about the opportunities for a study and an internship abroad, manage various funds and exchange programmes and provide accommodation for international students and staff.

International Services Team
The Services team is part of the Mobility team and responsable for housing, immigration and scholarship programmes for international staff and students
