Job description

The Office of Student and Educational Affairs (OSEA) is at the heart of Erasmus University College (EUC). The OSEA team supports all students and academic staff with timely information and organisation regarding the Bachelor’s degree programme in Liberal Arts & Sciences.

OSEA has three Programme Officers, who each proactively supports the academic departments and the students with:

  • Maintaining communication with course coordinators and (guest) lecturers, as well as all required organisational, logistical and administrative support to ensure the smooth functioning of all education;
  • Ensuring effective and timely information (via the course catalogue, the learning environment Canvas, the study portal MyEUR and, direct face-to-face communication during walk-in hours) for students in courses, as well as on their academic performance, so that students are able to make informed choices and to perform their study efforts efficiently and effectively;
  • Any other activities needed to assist the Head of OSEA, Heads of the Department, the Educational Director and the Examination Board of EUC with carrying out their respective responsibilities.

Examples of specific tasks include administrative support for: academic planning; course preparation and registration; processing grades, transcripts, students’ academic progress, external and exchange records; booking rooms for classes and activities; archiving exams, as well as maintaining digital records and improving processes with the team. Weekly team meetings are held to discuss current tasks. The Programme Officers are expected to be able to fill in for each other and/or to reinforce one another in case of peak workloads.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple requests simultaneously
  • Be flexible, and able to work as part of a team, and cope with the peaks in work intensity
  • Feel comfortable working in an international environment
  • Have relevant working experience and an MBO+ (secondary vocational education) or higher degree level of thinking and working
  • Take pride in working with accuracy and integrity
  • Want to become a proactive member of a stimulating academic community
  • Be proficient in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook – proficiency in OSIRIS is preferred
  • Have a service-oriented working attitude and love to plan and organise          
  • Have excellent written and oral skills for expressing yourself in English and Dutch (at least B2 level in the CEFR in both languages, C1 level is preferred)

Conditions of employment

An internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with good working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).

The start date of this position is December 2022 and you will be based at Erasmus University College, in the centre of Rotterdam. The successful candidate will be offered a one year 0.8fte contract with Erasmus University Rotterdam. The contract can be extended in case of a positive assessment or turned into a fixed employment contract.

In accordance with the conditions applied at Erasmus University Rotterdam as indicated in the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO NU) of the Dutch universities, the salary is dependent on the candidate’s experience and is set at a maximum of CAO NU scale 7 with a minimum of €2471 and a maximum of €3336, gross per month, on a fulltime basis (the salary will be 0.8 of this). In addition, EUR pays an 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year payment of 8.3% and offers excellent secondary benefits, and a very generous leave scheme. Furthermore, EUR is affiliated with ABP for the pension provision and we offer partially paid parental leave, fully paid extended birth leave for partners, a personal education budget, work-life balance coaches and more. Employees can also use EUR facilities, such as the Erasmus sports centre and the University library.
