The gluon researcher is a new research profile, proposed by the methodology-theme of Resilient Delta Initiative (RDI) of the Convergence Alliance. Named after the gluon particle from Physics, the purpose of the gluon researcher is to bridge the coordination and integration-deficit in multidisciplinary knowledge consortia affiliated with RDI. By doing so, collaborative learning between fields of expertise is secured and accelerated, and interdisciplinary scientific advance in the domain of delta resilience pursued.
As one of the world's first gluon researchers, you will produce a new scientific deliverable called the convergence-report. The convergence report establishes notions across fields of expertise on health and well-being in deprived neighbourhoods in a shared language, that can be used as a holistic, interdisciplinary point of departure for follow-up research. To do so, you propose and implement methodological interventions that seek knowledge integration between fields of expertise in the SPRING-consortium. SPRING is a transdisciplinary consortium that combines knowledge of universities, municipality, inhabitants and more in Rotterdam South. You identify and assess the performance of these integration-methods with an expanding team of gluon researchers within Resilient Delta Initiative's Methodology Team, that includes a gluon colleague in the ReDesigning Deltas-consortium. Within the SPRING consortium itself, you will be responsible for delivering an iterative series of integration reports that culminate in convergence report. The substantiation and validation of the notions in the report takes place together with colleagues in SPRING.
As a gluon researcher, you will familiarize yourself with a large variety of fields of expertise regarding deprived neigbourhoods and actively experiment with methods for knowledge integration. Ideally, you have worked in the domain of social and health studies or urban studies. You feel comfortable in multidisciplinary and experimental environments and care for colleagues and their motives. But most of all, you are an intellectually curious, conceptually strong, independent thinker, who combines a capacity to listen with a tenacity to establish connections between people and their expertise.The position provides you with a great opportunity to satisfy your intellectual curiosity without narrowing your scope all too soon, and can be used to expand the gluon role to other knowledge consortia within RDI.
Fixed-term contract: 24 months.
Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. The salary is min. €3.974,- to max. €5.439,- gross per month (salary scale 11; depending on the experience and education level of the candidate). Besides the salary you also receive an annual holiday payment of 8% and an end of year bonus payment of 8.3%.
The position has a fixed-term contract of 24 months.
