Job description

As a Lecturer at Erasmus University College, you will become part of a team of enthusiastic and highly motivated tutors, lecturers, and senior lecturers who are responsible for the courses in Economics & Business of our Liberal Arts & Sciences programme. Our courses adopt a small-scall, active learning environment. The tasks of a Lecturer include tutoring our small-scale groups across various courses in Business and Academic Skills, reviewing assessment work done by students, (to assist with) the development, implementation and coordination of courses in the field of Business for the curriculum of our Liberal Arts & Sciences bachelor programme. A Lecturer will also guide Capstone projects of students in their final year at our College.

Requirements

  • You hold at least a Master’s degree in Business or Management; candidates who are finalising PhD-research or holding a PhD in a relevant field are especially encouraged to apply;
  • You have demonstrable affinity with teaching;
  • You are willing and able to guide tutorial groups on a broad range of Business subjects as well as Academic Skills courses.
  • You have excellent communication skills and you are highly proficient in the English language;
  • You look forward to working together in a close-knit team of tutors and (senior) lecturers and to becoming a proactive member of a stimulating academic community that is the hallmark of a university college.    

Lecturers are required to be flexible with their working days, as the scheduling by EUC of all tutorials is dominant and by its nature quite inflexible. Weekly meetings for preparation, coordination and reflective purposes require your attendance as well.

Conditions of employment

An internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with good working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).

The start date of this position is as soon as possible but preferably not later than 15 January 2023 and you will be based at Erasmus University College. The position is for 0,5 FTE.

Initially your contract will be running for a period of one year, with a possible extension. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 2.960 to a maximum of € 4.670 gross per month on a fulltime basis, in accordance with scale 10 of the CAO-NU. In addition, we offer an 8% holiday allowance, an end-of-year payment of 8.3%, and a very generous paid leave scheme. Furthermore, EUR is affiliated with ABP for the pension provision, and we offer partially paid parental leave, fully paid extended birth leave for partners, a personal career budget, work-life balance coaches, discounted collective health insurance, and more. As an employee, you can also use EUR facilities such as the University library and receive a discount on subscriptions for the Erasmus sports center.
