Project leader: EU Project Water Mining

Job description

We are looking for a new member in our coordination team for a large EU water project. Water Mining connects 38 partners in Europe to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for recovery of water, nutrients and materials in wastewater treatment and de-salination. The project started in 2021 and runs until 2024. We implement 6 innovative case studies in 5 countries including Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Italy and The Netherlands. The project is coordinated by Prof. Patricia Osseweijer, Prof. Mark van Loosdrecht and Dr. Dimitris Xevgenos at Delft University of Technology. This project management team is now looking for an enthusiastic new assistant coordinator. As such you are responsible for the contribution to daily management tasks, such as preparing and monitoring actions of the weekly project management team; preparation and follow-up of the bi-monthly executive board and annual consortium meetings. You are also responsible to gather the required information for the formal reporting to the European Commission  and support the data management as established within the Consortium. Communication within the consortium and outside is part of the job as well as a key role in the organisation of the final conference in 2024. There are also opportunities for leading specific project tasks in communication and education. You will be part of a team, which extends to a group of TU Delft researchers related to this project and active in environmental biotechnology and social sciences such as value sensitive design, stakeholder relations, sustainability assessment and business modelling. You will be embedded in either the Section Biotechnology and Society or the Section Environmental Biotechnology.

The Department of Biotechnology addresses all relevant levels of organization in biotechnological processes: discovery, characterization, and engineering of enzymes as molecular catalysts; physiology, systems biology and engineering of microbial cells and cellular networks; ecophysiology of microbial populations; design and integration of unit operations in industrial and environmental bioprocesses and analysis of socio-economic impact. We also engage in research on pharma- and food-related topics, such as production and purification of biopharmaceuticals, cultivation of red blood cells for clinical applications and innovations in brewing.
