UMIO within SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS
UMIO is the postgraduate education institute of Maastricht University School of Business and Economics. It consists of three programme units, the MaastrichtMBA, Executive Master programs and Executive Education plus a shared service center that covers marketing, business development, HR and finance.
MaastrichtMBA is the brand of our executive MBA program that we offer in two formats: (1) modular on campus and (2) online with three face to face educational weeks. The first MBA program was offered in 1998 and currently more than 100 active students are enrolled in the two year programs. The programmes hold the accreditations of AACSB, AMBA, Equis and NVAO.
The MaastrichtMBA builds on three design principles that guide our strategic decisions and are derived from UMIO’s mission statement
(1) Small-scale teaching – despite the growth in student numbers we maintain a maximum class size of 25 to ensure highly interactive learning
(2) Focus on responsible leadership – the leadership development trajectory is an essential transformative learning experience for our students
(3) Business encompassing, action oriented learning – our learning encourages students to actively contribute their experiences in the classes and to apply the class learning in their professional context.
