Who are you

You're self-motivated with a genuine interest in researching, writing, editing and speaking with a diverse group of people. You can easily manage your own time to set and meet deadlines. You adapt swiftly to changes, and love being part of a community. An interest in education - especially innovative education - is useful but not required.

Key responsibilities
  • Project set-up. Work with us to create a research plan and template(s) for interviews and determine what types of data to collect;
  • Interviews with stakeholders. Reach out to stakeholders in faculties and central departments involved in educational innovation. You will also conduct interviews and report findings within the research framework;
  • Desk research. Use digital resources (e.g., websites, video, etc.) to research available innovation opportunities for teachers and what are common focus areas for innovation projects;
  • Attending events. Attend university events on education (e.g., education festivals) and include findings in reporting (where relevant);
  • Reporting. Summarize and record findings within the research framework. You will conclude this in a report.

Requirements

Selection criteria
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English, preferably also in Dutch;
  • Comfortable working independently;
  • Able to reach out to different stakeholders and take initiative to meet with staff across Leiden University;
  • Experience doing research using multiple sources;
  • Able to attend meetings in person in Leiden and The Hague, including during the summer months.

Conditions of employment

Terms and conditions

The employment contract is in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities for a period of one year. Depending if you are a bachelor or master student the salary will be €2.402 (second- or third-year BA student) or €2.611 (MA student) gross per month for a full-time appointment. It concerns a role for 10 -12 hours per week effective immediately. An extension is possible, depending on need, proven suitability and available resources.

LLInC has office space in The Hague and Leiden, but it is also allowed to partly work from home.

In addition, Leiden University has good employment conditions. For example, there is an end-of-year bonus (8.3%), holiday allowance (8%), excellent training facilities, paid parental leave and the option to choose tailor-made employment conditions via a selection model.
