Job description

For the EU H2020 WATER-MINING project we are looking for a researcher (PhD graduate) to conduct research on the societal acceptability of Water Mining technologies for the recovery of water and resources from urban and industrial waste streams. For that, in collaboration with project partners across Europe, you will investigate the acceptability and users’ attitude changes of full-scale Water Mining technologies and recovered resources as circular products, as well as develop educational activities to communicate the results of the project.

WATER-MINING (watermining.eu) is a highly ambitious project that aims to tackle challenges related to water access and sustainable water supply. The project consortium consists of 38 partners over 12 countries, with case studies in Italy, Cyprus, Spain, Portugal and The Netherlands. TU Delft, Section of Biotechnology and Society, is project leader. The mentioned Postdoc position will be based in Delft, for the duration of the Water Mining project until 31 August 2024.

Requirements

We are looking for an ambitious scholar who wants to contribute to solving energy, environmental and economic challenges related to securing future water access. The ideal candidate should hold (or close to finishing) a PhD degree, or a MSc degree with +5 years of experience in domains related to Science and Technology Studies, Innovation Sciences, Industrial Ecology, or any other related field. Demonstrable experience with both quantitative and qualitative research skills are requested, but with emphasis on the latter.  You should be able to work in a team, while taking initiative in reaching out to project partners, setting up workshops and approaching associated stakeholders. Salary scale will depend on level of education and experience, scale 10-11

The responsibilities for this position include:

-              Engage with project partners to analyse the full-scale implementation of Water Mining technologies

-              Conduct and analyse surveys, interviews and workshops with stakeholders in six case studies across Europe

-              Lead project partners in the development of educational material for communicating results of the Water Mining projects

-              Deliver reports of your activities within the project and in collaboration with project partners within your working groups.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 15 maanden.
