Job description

Do you have a strong affiliation with animal health and physiology including animal welfare? Are you a skilled researcher and do you like to work in multidisciplinary teams? The department Animal Health and Welfare is looking for a researcher to join our team in Wageningen.

As a researcher you will play a role in animal health, prevention and strategies to increase animal resilience. You will work in an interdisciplinary set-up and collaborate with researchers within Wageningen University & Research and from (inter)national knowledge institutes. You will also work with private partners (industry) and end-users, in- and outside the organization.

Requirements

Your duties and responsibilities include (max 6):
  • Contribute to the development of research proposals and project plans
  • Execute projects; e.g. setting up and running experiments, collect and collate data
  • Statistical analyses of collected data
  • Contribute to and write scientific papers
  • Present results to the sector, stakeholders and/or at (inter)national conferences
Your Qualities
  • You are a result-oriented and enthusiastic researcher with a strong affiliation to aspects of animal health and welfare such as resilience and one health, animal physiology/immunology, microbiome analyses and/or understanding the biology underlying complex phenotypes for health and welfare.

    You also possess:
  • A master or PhD degree (postdoc) in animal health, veterinary medicine or related field, including an article 9 certificate
  • Demonstrable expertise in the livestock health and welfare field
  • Good organizational and excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level C1. If you do not yet have this level, we will of course help you and you can go to our language center Wageningen in'to Language

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 2.949,- and € 5.479,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 10 or 11). Additionally, a contract for 32 hours can be discussed

You will work here
The Department Animal Health and Welfare is an enthusiastic team of about 45 employees working on innovation, research and knowledge exchange. Many research challenges have an interdisciplinary character and concern major themes like reduction of antibiotic usages, one health, animal welfare, transport, responsible livestock farming and animal health. The department works on welfare and health of cattle, swine, poultry and fish, and on smart livestock farming with sensor technology and big data analyses.
